{"id":675,"date":"2013-04-25T17:53:50","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T23:53:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mynavigatornews.com\/?p=675"},"modified":"2017-11-15T02:26:33","modified_gmt":"2017-11-15T07:26:33","slug":"tamut-coach-escapes-boston-marathon-bombings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eagleeyemedia.org\/?p=675","title":{"rendered":"TAMUT Coach Escapes Boston Marathon Bombings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Meagan Garrison<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">\n<p>Texas A&amp;M-Texarkana\u2019s very own track coach Jeff Haynes was in Boston on Apr. 15, 2013 competing for the first time in what many runners feel is the hall of fame of marathons, the Boston Marathon.<\/p>\n<p>After recovering from an injury, Haynes ran some but then walked most of the way from mile 21 to 24.\u00a0 \u201cAt mile 25, I was reenergized and didn\u2019t walk another step until I crossed the line,\u201d said Haynes.\u00a0 As he crossed the finish line Haynes recalls giving children high fives and a man taking his picture on the side of the street once he got his medal.<\/p>\n<p>Haynes finished the Boston Marathon in 3 hours and 52 minutes. \u201cIf God had not pushed me through that last mile, I would have walked in about 15-17 minutes later,\u201d said Haynes.\u00a0 \u201cThe bomb went off at 4 hours and 9 minutes.\u00a0 17 minutes!\u201d\u00a0 The bombs would kill 3 people and injure more than 140.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the news, the bombers were spotted on surveillance being at the finish line 15-20 minutes before the bomb went off, this means that my family and I were there at the same time,\u201d said Haynes<\/p>\n<p>Haynes, along with his wife and daughter were about a half block away when they heard the first bomb go off.\u00a0 \u201cAfter hearing the second bomb go off, my wife and I knew we needed to get out of there and get our daughter to safety,\u201d said Haynes.\u00a0 After many attempts to get a taxi, they saw a man get out of one and they grabbed his.\u00a0 The Haynes\u2019 family saw many police cars, fire trucks and ambulances fly by and head towards the finish line.\u00a0 \u201cWe asked the taxi driver what was going on and he said it was the Boston Marathon, its Patriot\u2019s day,\u201d said Haynes.\u00a0 He then replied, \u201cI know that I just ran it, and then that\u2019s when we heard over the taxi\u2019s radio that there were two explosions that went off at the finish line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod is good and he ain&#8217;t done with me! He protected me and my loved ones.
