Logan Buck is a 21-year-old biology major at Texas A&M University-Texarkana who is graduating in December. He plans to start applying to med schools and become a doctor because of the career\u2019s emphasis on helping others. \u201cThat\u2019s why becoming a doctor stood out to me. It\u2019s a job that\u2019s very service heavy\u2026I\u2019m using my academic skills and combining them with my desire to serve the community, and I just felt like that\u2019s the best thing I could ask for,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about his experience at TAMUT, Logan gave nothing but positive feedback. He particularly enjoys the smaller class sizes that TAMUT offers to students. \u201cA lot of the biology professors that I\u2019ve dealt with, and just professors in general on campus, are incredibly nice because there\u2019s less pressure. There\u2019s not that many students and they really prioritize one-on-one learning,\u201d he said. One Professor, Dr. Alam, had a noteworthy impact on Logan\u2019s educational career and is now advising him on med schools. \u201cHe\u2019s very intentional with helping me pick out med schools and get prepared and everything… He\u2019s just a very great professor,\u201d Logan said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Logan reflected on his time at TAMUT, there are a few pieces of advice he would give to underclass biology majors. \u201cMy advice is stay on top of your work… There\u2019s a lot you have to<\/a> know and if you\u2019re not on top of things from the beginning, then you\u2019re going to struggle later because a lot of classes, in this field in particular, build<\/a> on each other,\u201d Logan said. Logan believes the key to success is \u201cjust staying on top of your studies, learning to be organized, learning to balance life and classes, and remembering to spend time with yourself,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
